Obviously its an engine, but what did it come out of? I'm sure now that I've joined the name that part party we will get a cease and desist order just like with the AMA party when I joined.

The wheel looks like a 5-Series wheel. So 5-Series?

It has a hell of a unique design feature, which I was able to use to figure it out. (Hint, cam chain location). I'm keeping mum, though, since I cheated.

If you look a little closer, you should be able to see it appears only one cam chain is on the back. Another view:

howd u cheat? is the cam chain and the timing chain the same thing? Its funny you mention that because the timing chain (which isn;t in its proper location, probably in a ball in the corner and is the reason the engine is where it is and not in the vehicle)

Cam chain = timing chain, yes. The passenger side bank is driven from the back of the engine, it's easy enough to see. That, coupled with the driver's side driven normally mean it'd be really easy to ID an engine as correct if it came up as a possible. Next step: Googled "SOHC rear timing chain". You can see how easy that made it.
